Demand for Formation of “Trade & Industry Development Board” and Immediate Implementation of Master Plan to Save Delhi’s Trade
The apex body of traders and entrepreneurs in Delhi, Chamber of Trade & Industry (CTI), organized a massive Traders’ Convention in Delhi today. Over 400 industry and traders’ organizations from across Delhi participated in the event.
CTI Chairman Sh. Brijesh Goyal and General Secretary Sh. Gurmeet Arora informed that Hon’ble Mayor of Delhi Sh. Pravesh Wahi, President of Delhi Cricket Association Sh. Rohan Jaitley, Business Experts Ms. Bharti Taneja and Sh. Jai Madan attended the convention.
CTI Senior Vice President Sh. Deepak Garg and Secretary Sh. Kunj Nakra informed that Sh. Arjun Kumar, Sh. Dheeraj Dhar Gupta, Sh. Vinay Narang, Sh. Suresh Agarwal, Sh. Gurmeet Arora, Sh. Hukam Nakra, Sh. Rahul Agarwala, Sh. Shyam Sunder Agarwal, Sh. Shri Bhagwan Bansal, Sh. Sushil Goyal, Sh. Chandra Bhushan Gupta and other trade leaders were honored with the Business Excellence Award at today’s convention.

The convention involved in-depth discussions on the pressing issues of Delhi’s markets and industrial areas, and demanded immediate solutions from the government.
Key Resolutions and Demands Passed in the Convention:
1. Formation of Trade & Industry Development Board
Traders unanimously demanded the formation of a “Delhi Trade & Industry Development Board”. The Board should include representatives from the Government, MCD, DDA and trade organizations. This will provide traders and industrialists with a proper platform to strongly raise their voice with the government.
2. Basic Issues of Markets
Representatives from major markets including Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Kamla Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Karol Bagh, Chawri Bazar, Connaught Place, Paharganj and others raised the following issues:
– Illegal Street Vendors & Encroachments: Due to occupation of footpaths, customers are unable to come to the markets.
– Severe Parking Shortage: Due to lack of adequate parking by MCD, there are problems of traffic jams and challans.
– Sewer, Sanitation & Street Lights: There is a lack of basic amenities in many markets.
– UPI/MDR Charges: Opposition to the Central Government’s proposal to levy charges on UPI. This will increase costs for small traders.

3. Demands of Industrial Areas
Industrialists from Bawana, Narela, Mayapuri, Patparganj, Jhilmil, Okhla and other areas said:
– Single Window System: To set up any new factory, one has to run to different departments and inspectors demand bribes. A Single Window System should be created so that all approvals can be obtained quickly from one place.
– Leasehold to Freehold: Industrial areas should be converted from leasehold to freehold.
– Electricity & Water: Ensure 24-hour electricity at industrial rates and adequate water supply.

4. Other Serious Issues
– Delhi Master Plan 2041: The Master Plan is running 5 years behind schedule. Due to this, many works are stalled. The Delhi Government should take initiative and implement the new Master Plan in Delhi as soon as possible.
– GST & Tax Harassment: Small traders are being unnecessarily harassed with GST returns and notices. The limit for the Composition Scheme should be increased to ₹2 Crore.
– E-Commerce & Discounts: Big e-commerce companies are destroying the business of small shopkeepers by giving heavy discounts. This needs to be regulated.
– Rent & Licenses: Renewal of Trade Licenses and Health Licenses for shops should be made simple and online.
100 New Parking Sites to be Built Soon in Delhi – Parking Mafia Will End: Mayor Pravesh Wahi Delhi Mayor Sh. Pravesh Wahi, who was present at the event, said that _100 parking sites will be built in Delhi and the parking mafia will be eliminated.
